Ready to Print!: Baiyansi Climbing, 3rd Edition!
After putting in long days for over a month and a half, the newest edition of the Baiyansi guidebook is ready to print!
This book is the biggest leap forward and the biggest challenge I have done in all of my printed creative projects. Full of new resources, vastly improved topos, and even some brand new routes, this guidebook is key for any visitors looking to explore one of the best up-and-coming big wall destinations in all of China!
I do all the graphic design, translation work, and print logistics myself. This is all community-driven.
I do all of this because I believe that building up climbing community and the resources needed to support it. But I cannot do it alone! I can’t shoulder the printing costs as a single person, so any help from the community can make this project happen!
All contributions go towards printing costs and costs of equipment to establish new routes for the international climbing community to enjoy!
in collaboration with
I recently collaborated with Mick Pearson, the founder of Kaf Adventures, a mountain guiding company based in Seattle, Washington, to produce an online learning experience for people new to mountaineering. The course is meant to be a foundation skill set development program covering everything from training for the mountains, gear selection, to hard skills like glacier rope team travel.
I was involved in everything from writing the scripts to set building, cinematography, and editing! It was an expansive project that covered 11 months, as we functioned as a lean crew to be able to produce such a big course on a modest budget. But ultimately the project turned into one that Mick and Kaf are proud of!
Guidebook Release! Baiyansi, 2nd Edition
After years of being locked away behind a pandemic-induced wall, Baiyansi is finally ripe for opening new routes again! This second edition of the guidebook represents a huge leap forward for the area, with the inclusion of a brand new, 15-pitch multipitch, improved Chinese translations, and piles of information on how to get to one of China’s best up-and-coming big wall climbing destinations!
This is e-guidebook is free! I simply ask that you please consider donating to my guidebook publication fund.
I self-fund all of my guidebook projects, which includes getting to remote places in China and spending weeks in tents putting up routes and gathering info.
I do it this way because I believe in the mission of creating climbing experiences to share with the community. China has such a wealth of climbing that needs both a documentarian and an advocate. I strive to be both in order to bring new books and climbing areas to you!
Please consider donating to these books’ production.
